Ky Lewis, is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator and educator based in South London with an experimental alternative photography and printmaking practice. Her interests are nature, human activity on the land, environmental activism currently with an arboreal focus and site responsive location work, creating drypoint prints either directly or in her studio.<\/p>\n
She uses a variety of printimaking methods currently working with drypoint and also works with large format pinhole and camera-less processes creating her own emulsions from botanicals. Sustainability and environmentalism are key, reusing and recycling as part of her practice. The durational aspect to working slowly in the land essential, enjoying time to experience and reflect on emotional responses, including observations of changes in landscape and cycles of life.<\/p>\n
As part of her practice she enjoys teaching and through peripatetic workshops for a variety of institutions and often in open spaces. She educates in a range of subjects covering both alternative photography and printmaking with the most recent being for the likes of Photo Oxford and East London Printmakers.<\/p>\n
Ky has also curated seven group exhibitions in the last few years. She has exhibited globally with awards, Jacksons Art Prize; PX3; Denis Rousell, Julia Margaret Cameron, Recent shows, Jacksons Art Prize-Bankside Gallery & Affordable Art Fair 2025; Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair; ING Discerning Eye 2024;\u201dIronbridge Fine Arts Printmaking show” 2024, “Symbiosis I, II and III” a co-curated series Brighton Photofringe 2024, “Open Press Project” Ku\u0308nstlerwerkstatt Germany 2024, solo: \u201cBreathe-A Dialogue with The Urban Forest\u201d Hundred Years Gallery 2023, “Bainbridge Open” The Handbag Factory 2023, “Enlighten\u201d Griffin Museum of Photography Boston 2022, “Other Ways Of Seeing\u201d Plaxall Gallery New York 2022.<\/p>\n
Her work is held in the V&A and private collections.<\/p>\n
