The core of Ulla Neureiter’s work explores the deep relationship between the human body and its unique expression and observation of emotions. Importance is laid on the reconnection to human emotionality, one’s inner physical sensations and intuition, as well as manifestations of trauma. Working increasingly with painful emotions and memories, Ulla enforces a healing process by scratching deeply underneath the surface, to finally open up to absolute vulnerability, leading her path back to the exploration of grief and the language between death and comfort.
Printmaking as a medium allows Ulla to use her body as a tool, to incorporate its energy, touch, movement, and performance as an important contribution to the creation of the finished print.
Working around the reconnection to our own bodies and therefore our intuition and collective intelligence, live performance is the ultimate expression of research for her. It praises experience rather than intellectualisation and allows the momentarily connection to its audience, making the environment an imperative part of the artwork.
Ulla graduated from Camberwell College of Art in 2024 with an MA in Fine Art Printmaking.
